Course Description:

Prerequisite: Art Journey classes with Sarah Barzmehri 

This class is to train your eye by exploring the relationship between two-dimensional and three-dimensional design. Participants will begin with collage, focusing on composition, color, balance, and visual rhythm, then gradually transform their ideas into three-dimensional assemblages that emphasize layering, depth, texture, and volume.

Through a process of experimentation and creative problem-solving, students will develop a stronger understanding of design principles while working with a variety of materials. The workshop culminates in the creation of wearable art, as participants translate their designs into unique earrings, necklaces, and bracelets.

Materials provided: paper, adhesives, scissors, beads, wires, and mixed media elements.

About Sarah

Sarah Barzmehri studied fine arts at the renowned art school in Paris, France (Ècole Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Paris), and Graphic Design at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). She’s an accomplished artist, curator and educator. Through art, she gives form to her innermost feelings and unspoken thoughts. Sarah has been teaching adults and children for more than a decade, encouraging a free-spirited approach to creating from the unconscious.
