Class Description:

This class will explore tradition and nontraditional Japanese book binding tech. The This class will be an introduction to dry point etching on plexiglass plates. Participants will create images on plexiglass plates using etching scribes. The plates will be inked with safe wash etching ink. An edition of 5 prints will be pulled on the WPG Studio Press.

Day 1: Participants will transfer their image to a plexiglass plate and learn a variety of drawing techniques using etching scribes. Images that can be used are sketches/drawings or photographs.

Day 2: Continue work on etching plates and pull proof prints to test images on paper.

Day 3:  Students can bring artwork or items for book design. Complete plates, refine details, and pull final proof prints.

Day 4 : Final day: Participants will be printing an edition of 5 prints on BFK Rives printing paper.

Supplies / Fees: Tools and Supplies will be provided; $45 materials fee, paid to the instructor.

About Adele:

Adele Ross is a graduate of Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. She is an accomplished Printmaker who began her printing journey at Montgomery College in Maryland. Ross’s book-making interest has evolved from her printing, which she feels is a natural progression from her press.
