Description: Join us for a dynamic three-hour workshop exploring the creative fusion of watercolor and pastel! Discover different techniques to combine these versatile mediums, enhancing depth, texture, and contrast in your artwork. Throughout the session, you'll experiment with still life and landscape compositions, exploring innovative ways to benefit from both the fluidity of watercolor and the vibrancy of pastel, and trying different brands of pastel and pastel paper. Participants are also encouraged to bring their previous watercolor paintings that could benefit from enhancing highlights, adding contrast, and incorporating expressive details. Materials are provided.
Bio: Julia Bezgacheva is a pastel and oil artist based in Arlington, Virginia. As both an artist and a scientist, Julia is attracted to the vibrancy and luminosity of colors and is fascinated by how light, color and form can evoke or convey meaning and emotions - especially how details and nuances can influence a message. From September 2024, Julia has served as a President of the McLean Art Society. She has over 25 years of teaching experience with workshops and classes conducted locally and internationally.
Supplies are provided but feel free to bring your favorite watercolors and soft pastels.
