Class Description:

There are a lot less steps involved in making a frame from scratch for a painting than to make a frame for works on paper. That being said, there still are a couple of tricks that are helpful to know to make a frame by hand at a professional level. This class will teach you everything you need to get started and allow you to frame 2 paintings. Note: Student’s will be required to provide paintings that they wish to be framed. Size limit of 24 x 36 for paintings.

Class price includes $100 in frame stock. Expensive wood such as Walnut will be available if requested. Market prices fluctuate and students will be consulted before any purchases are made for them.

To reduce the hazard sawdust poses to student’s health, all woodworking in this class will be done outside with a mask.

Bio

My name is William Demaria. I currently live in Baltimore Maryland and sustain myself off of selling my artwork in New York City. I do not have a woodshop with expensive power tools, and I make frames in my 2 bedroom apartment. Last year I made roughly 30 frames from scratch and saved roughly $12,000. While originally, I started to save money, I have found I can get a significantly higher quality frame than I received from a professional framer and the handmade frames I make allow me to present my artwork in high end art shows.
