Class Description:

Workshop Overview

This workshop explores the basics of relief printmaking with linocuts.  We will be working with small-format linocuts that can be used as stamps with or without a print press.  Print techniques like this are ideal for projects such as holiday cards or ex libris (“from the library of _”) stamps for a personal library.  Students will have the opportunity to make multiple stamps.  Instruction will include going over the process of drafting out designs, transferring them to linocuts, issues of simplification/legibility.  This is a good workshop for students who are new to printmaking, though some prior experience with drawing is useful.
